NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY
Newborn photography is a very specialised art, we are proud to be the only studio in Cambodia who offers this unique style.
Capturing these images requires years of experience, patience, creativity, and a genuine love of these little babies. Our photographer has photographed thousands of newborns over the years and is an expert at handling these babies with care and affection - we know that you are trusting us with your precious new life and we take that trust seriously.
Because newborn photography is so specialised, there are some important things to do when booking and preparing for your shoot:
1. Baby should be 5 to 10 days old for their photos shoot (and definitely no more than 2 weeks old)
This is the most important thing for creating the best newborn photos. Baby will be easier to pose, will sleep deeper, will cry much less, will be more flexible (so able to do the cutest poses that babies over 2 weeks cannot do) and will be much more happy and comfortable for their shoot.
2. Newborn photo shoots should be booked for the morning
Babies (and all children) are usually happier and more settled in the morning. In the afternoon babies can be more tired, especially if they have not slept well during the day.
3. Keep baby awake for 1 to 2 hours before the photo shoot
This means that they will be more sleepy when they have their photos taken and baby will be is easier to pose for those super cute shots. One way to keep baby awake and calm before the photo shoot it to give them a nice long bath, and when you are travelling to the shoot talk to them and move them around to stop them from falling asleep.
4. Wait until you arrive at our studio to feed your baby
Please try not to feed baby for 2 to 3 hours before your photo shoot, then you can feed baby as soon as you arrive at our studio and they will sleep soundly and happily pose for photos. Important - be careful not to over-feed baby. Of course we want baby to be fed and have a full tummy, but if baby is fed too much then they will be very uncomfortable when we try to pose them, they will cry much more, and they will often spit up the extra milk.
5. Bring a pacifier for the baby
When we work with your precious baby we handle them with great care and love, but sometimes babies will cry a little bit when we change their clothes or put them into a new pose. A pacifier is very helpful to soothe baby and make sure that both baby and parents enjoy the shoot.
6. Allow 2 to 3 hours for your newborn photo shoot
Newborn photo shoots take longer than other shoots. When we are working with a little baby we work slowly and calmly and do not rush. Most newborn photo shoots take around 3 hours but they can be anywhere from 2 to 4 hours so please make sure you allow plenty of time.
7. Make sure that the whole family comes to the shoot
We will capture precious family and sibling photos for you, so please come prepared to be in the photos. The best colours to wear are white, soft/pastel colours, and florals. We will take family and sibling photos in the first 30 to 60 minutes of your shoot, and then we kindly ask that older children be taken out of the studio while we focus on the newborn photos.
8. Your baby’s and your family’s health and safety is our number 1 priority.
We promise that we will never do any pose with your baby that risks their safety, that makes them uncomfortable, or that risks hurting them. Some of the photos that you see on our website are actually composite images – behind the scenes the baby may be supported by mummy’s hand or daddy’s finger! Please do NOT try these poses at home without the necessary safety precautions.
